Asteroid year in review 2025 – profitable growth and strong execution amid an industry-wide shift in software development
As winter calms down the rhythm of life in Helsinki, it’s time to sit down with a cup of coffee and reflect on Asteroid’s past year. In the midst of a turbulent world and a changing software industry, we’re proud of how well 2025 went for us. Here’s a look back – and a view of what lies ahead.
2025 was the best year in Asteroid’s history
Financially, 2025 was the best year in Asteroid’s history. Our revenue grew by about 5%, from €3.8 million the previous year to over €4 million.
Despite the challenges in the industry and a market that remains economically challenging, our operations were highly profitable in line with our goals. We were almost fully staffed in client projects throughout the year.
New customers and long-term partnerships
We succeeded well in acquiring new clients and nurturing long-term client relationships. We started new projects, for example, in the financial sector, the energy industry, and in workforce management and healthcare system development.
Our multi-year engagements have also built significant expertise across several other industries, including real estate, logistics, gaming, retail, telecom, and manufacturing. Our client satisfaction remains top-tier, reflected in long-term collaboration and commitment.
Welcome aboard, new colleagues
In 2025, three new colleagues joined Asteroid. We now employ around 30 people, all of whom are co-owners of the company.
We’re extremely grateful that every expert who has joined Asteroid is still working with us. Our employee satisfaction has remained at an excellent level throughout our history – so we must be doing something right.
Modern expertise and a clear direction
Guided by our updated technology strategy, we focused even more on demanding digital service and system architecture development and renewal projects, cloud-native application development, AI solutions, and data-driven services.
In recruitment, we emphasized multiple areas of specialization combined with broad generalist capabilities. Beyond technical depth, we value collaboration and leadership skills as well as deep domain understanding – skills that are highly valuable for experienced consultants and software architects.
In developing our expertise, we placed an even stronger focus on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cloud platforms. We spoke at the AWS Community Day Nordics event, deepened our understanding of AI, and participated in local meetups. Tools and methods leveraging generative AI, which have made major leaps forward, have become an established part of our software development toolkit and are now used in nearly all of our client projects.
Supporting learning at Asteroid is a substantial annual professional development budget of one hundred hours, which our people use in a wide variety of ways. Interest in soft skills training is also growing, as communication, presenting, and understanding team success factors are increasingly valued alongside deep technical expertise.

Asteroid in the national media
In 2025, we had the opportunity to showcase our work in outlets such as Kauppalehti’s Technology section and Tivi, where we discussed the business impact of AI, including the democratization of forecasting. A broader feature is available in Kauppalehti.
A strong partner ecosystem for our clients
Our ecosystem of eight partner companies is thriving. Together, we’ve continued to serve our clients with a complementary service offering across a wide range of digital service development and project leadership, with a combined strength of around 250 professionals
Last year, our assignments increasingly focused on the applications of AI and data, strategy groundwork, underlying platform development, and coaching our clients. As pioneers in the field, we had the privilege of working on areas such as recommendation solutions, trust and safety, digital service channels, customer service solutions, and task generation for learning platforms.
The close collaboration within our partner ecosystem opens the door for us to truly interesting and demanding projects. For our clients, this means broad and deep expertise – delivered flexibly and with scale, when needed.
A year when coding changed
The fast-moving IT industry once again seems to be among the first to go through developments that will later spread to other knowledge work as well. This is particularly interesting to witness from the perspective of a high-profile expert company like Asteroid.
Software development processes are currently at the center of a major transformation driven by advanced coding tools, as GenAI technologies have truly broken through into production use with AI agents. Even seasoned experts are impressed by the efficiency and quality of agents that increasingly generate code, tests, and documentation independently – and by how quickly the field is moving. Naturally, our experts are making the most of these new tools in client projects.
As a result, many of our clients – software development leaders and CTOs – have wanted to discuss with us the ongoing transformation, the evolving development processes and roles, and how work will be structured as AI‑enabled productivity climbs to new heights.
2025 will be remembered as the year when new roles emerged in coding: defining, directing, and quality-assuring the work of AI agents. There has been a growing demand for our experts who understand this major shift, can manage large-scale systems, and stay at the forefront of change.
What does 2026 look like?
We’re now building our company for the fifth year – and Asteroid’s successful journey will continue. The years have flown by and have included major changes both in the world around us and in software development, but many things have also remained the same.
Throughout our journey, we’ve had the privilege of serving many successful companies developing digital businesses with solutions designed to meet future needs. Our clients increasingly rely on us for the technical definition of digital solutions, the delivery of end-to-end implementations, and strengthening their teams with senior consultants and coding architects
In 2026, excellent service for our clients remains at the core of everything we do, and we’ll continue with the same approach. We aim for healthy growth by hiring new Asteroidians and serving an increasing number of clients. We focus on experienced software professionals – hands-on architects, full-stack and back-end developers, and Cloud & DevOps specialists – with a strong emphasis on AI and data expertise.
Thriving client relationships, successful projects, deep expertise, happy teams, great people – these are what Asteroid is made of. From the very beginning, our goal has been to build Asteroid into one of Finland’s leading technology partners and an inspiring workplace, while contributing to a fairer working life. I believe we’ve succeeded in this.
I feel great pride in what Asteroid has grown into, and above all, in the people I get to continue this journey with in 2026.
